Kulango Ancestress Figure

Price: 5.400 €

This finely crafted figure belongs to the oldest objects of the Origomundi ensemble. The Kulango, a tribe related to the Baule, lives at the Ghanain border and their objects are rare and sought-after pieces at international auctions.

The Kulango's masks and figures are mostly long and a little aestheticized. Often an accentuation of the original black shiny objects via white and blue colours is made.

This female ancestressal figure has a beautiful heart-shaped face on a long neck with noble curved eyebrows. In addition to the altogether magnificent design, covered with the patina of age, this grand figure especially makes a wonderful visual impression.

Drying cracks at the neck and on the right half of the face increase the attractiveness of this antique piece.

The figure will be delivered on a base.

Collected in the early 1960s by Boris Kegel-Konietzko. Comes incl. original collectors etiquette and catalogue number.
