This figure really does not lack anything except a prominent owner. She is endowed with all attributes, which characterize a top piece of the Baule art: calm posture, arms at the body, the body itself being a slim pillar with decorative scars, the limbs rounded and bent, the big head with careful structured hair-style, smooth facial features with sunken eyelids over the almond- shaped eyes, the nose, the mouth, the fore-head – here simply everything fits together!
Every Baule possesses such an ancestral figure carved out of hard wood, which he recharges with new energy for life in the course of big ceremonies. And everyone beholds the pure enjoyment of wood craft. The Baule even create things without any spiritual background, which essentially only serve for pure enjoyment.
