The Malinke people were completely converted to the islam in the beginning of the 20th century. So most existing figures and mask are really old.
Although this ancestor figure shows typically abstract signs of the Malinke the art of this tribe is not independent. So it is no surprise that characteristics of the near Mossi, Dogon and Bambara can be found as well.
This old item is just called "The Freak" by us. It comes with original collectors etiquette no. 197-84.
